Hike the Northern Rockies

The Rocky Mountain Experience takes you on the path less travelled directly into the pristine outdoors! Trails trodden lightly, our hikes take you to stunning vistas and the tranquility of the valleys and peaks. Our guides know the lore and flora and fauna, making for an interesting wander through some of the world’s most amazing landscapes, where few have gone before.

Sample Hikes:

Mineral Licks Trail - 1 to 2 hours

Ideal for all ages, this classic trail winds through the boreal forest to the large sandstone mineral lick where erosion pillars have formed over thousands of years. Often stone sheep or caribou can be glimpsed from the various viewpoints, and an overview of the Trout River is a spectacular backdrop for your pictures. Wildflower are abundant in July and August, and animals are seen most often in the early morning or just before sunset.

Muncho Lake Viewpoint - 2 to 3 hours

After a scenic drive along Muncho Lake we embark on our hike at Strawberry Flats. The gravel riverbed leads to an original section of the Alaska Highway, a mere path in the forest today. We follow this gradual trail up along the steep embankment to reach the lower viewpoint. Here the ambitious may branch off to climb the rocky ridge to the upper Muncho Lake Valley Viewpoint. Your heart will pound at the stunning vista you earn yourself from the top.

Heading back down the option is to carry on along the old highway trail to the north. Find historic artefacts and remnants of Alaska Highway construction in 1942.

Explore the Rockies on Mountain bikes on a guided mountain bike tour. Choose from beginner to intermediate trails a great fit for all skill levels. Ride on our premium complimentary Full Suspension Norco bikes equipped with 29 inch tubeless tires and dropper posts, perfect rides for all rides in region. We provide all safety gear and equipment for the ride.

Valley tour - Beginner riders - 4 hrs
Follow a meandering valley trail nestled amongst the rocky mountains into the alpine. A variaty of easy gradual climbs/descents and wide gravel paths ideal for practicing fundamental mountain bike techniques with our guides.

***Riders must demonstrate skills at the lodges trail network before joining a Intermediate or Advanced ride. ***

Ridgeline - Intermediate riders- 3 hrs
Ride a variety of terrain from forest paths to ridgeline trails, for more experienced riders this selection of short singletrack cross country trails is perfect for fun scenic descents and technical climbs. These trails require good bike handling and offer a good challenge.

Alpine descent - Advanced riders -6 hrs
Ascent the high alpine via ATV and explore the high country before embarking on a thrilling 10km downhill descent. Rugged loose terrain and mandatory technical features require advanced biking skills on these trails.

Canoe/Kayak guided paddle tour

Explore Muncho lake by paddle with your guide while learning basic canoeing techniques. Short paddles ranging from 1 hour to longer 6 hour daytrips, making for a great activity for all ages. For the more adventurous a level 1 whitewater canoe trip can also be added.

Boat Muncho lake, guided tour

Relax and take in the beautiful Muncho lake valley on our tour boat with your guide while learning about the natural history and wildlife found in the region. A perfect way to enjoy a peaceful summers day on the water in comfort. An excellent option for elderly individuals to enjoy the jade green waters of muncho lake.

Put your perfect Northern adventure into frame.

Alpine flowers and wildlife will surely set camera shutters aflutter as moose, eagles, bison, caribou, sheep call the Northern Rockies home, always a joy to capture behind the lense in their natural habitat. Our knowledgable local guides are always happy to both explain and point out the local flaura and fauna. Be sure to bring your favourite lenses and let our guides put the north in focus to get you the perfect shot.

ATV in the Rockies,

Embark on a selection of scenic motorized trails on this guided off road ATV tour, sit in the comfort of our new side by side or take the helm of the four-wheeler. Explore alpine vista’s, river valley’s and boreal forests on these exciting daytrips, stop for a lunch and learn about local history and ongoing trail preservation. This tour is suited for all ages and abilities, motorized vehicle use is at the guides descretion and safety equipment must be used while on ATV vehicles.

 See the vast backcountry on a remote backcountry charter flight in our bushplanes. Learn interesting facts from your bushpilot on this exciting floatplane tour.
